How Fast Can An Elephant Run?

A study conducted on 42 Asian elephants found that the average walking speed of the elephants was 4.5 mph while their top speed can go up to 15 mph.

A casual observer cannot notice the elephant is running even at faster speeds because of their footfall pattern while running remains the same as that of walking.

At faster speed also, all four feet do not leave the ground at the same time. Therefore, if an elephant can run or not is still the question.
